The route
A8 then A10 towards Savona, then A26 towards Alessandria and A21 towards Brescia, then A4 via Verona, Vicenza and Padua. The Ponte della Libertà leads to Piazzale Roma. The border is crossed at Ventimiglia, and Italian tolls are included. Over more than six hours on the road, plan two stops, for example in Piacenza and Verona.
Verona, Lake Garda, Padua
Verona lies halfway: lunch near the Arena breaks up the day pleasantly. South of Lake Garda, Sirmione and Desenzano are just off the A4. Further on, Vicenza and its Palladian villas, then Padua and the Scrovegni Chapel, will delight art lovers.
The last stretch is by boat
The road ends at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto. Porters take the luggage to the landing stage; if you wish, we can help you book a private motor launch or drop you at the vaporetto stop. Hotel on the Lido or on an island: let us know, and the drop-off time will follow the crossing.
The major events
The Art or Architecture Biennale, the Film Festival on the Lido between late August and early September, Carnival in February: the city fills up. During the Film Festival, your chauffeur drops you at Tronchetto, where boats leave for the Lido, and collects you at the agreed time. We also serve the Marittima cruise terminals.

Possible pick-up: Terminals 1 and 2 at Nice airport, Cannes, Monaco, Nice-Ville station. Drop-off: Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto, Marittima or Marco Polo airport. From Monaco, the journey is about half an hour shorter. On the return, the meeting point is Piazzale Roma, at your boat's landing stage.
Our advice
Travel light: in Venice, every suitcase has to cross stepped bridges. Let your hotel know your arrival time; we can confirm it with them the day before.
