From the airport to the Principality of Monaco: stress-free options

Monaco is reached by road from Nice

The Principality has no airport. Almost all visitors therefore land at Nice Côte d’Azur, then complete the journey by road or rail. Your choice of transport sets the tone of your arrival: relaxed or against the clock.

This guide compares the options to help you choose according to your luggage, your schedule and the purpose of your stay.

Public transport: economical, but needs organising

The direct coach

A coach line links the airport to Monaco via the motorway. It is a reasonable option for a solo traveller with light luggage arriving during the day. You do, however, need to buy a ticket, wait for departure and finish on foot or by local bus to your hotel.

The train from Nice

The train runs along the coast and stops at Monaco station. To reach it, you first have to get to a Nice station with your suitcases, then manage the connection. The rail journey is pleasant, but the whole sequence remains long with luggage.

The private chauffeur: from the terminal door to the hotel door

With a airport transfer with chauffeur, everything is arranged before you take off. Your chauffeur tracks the flight, waits for you in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name and takes care of your suitcases.

You step into an air-conditioned Mercedes, and the car drops you in front of your hotel, residence or meeting place. No connections, no queues.

  • Price confirmed at booking, no surprises on arrival.
  • Waiting included if your flight is delayed.
  • Saloon for one or two travellers, V-Class for families and groups.
  • Water on board, child seats on request.

Which option for your profile?

Business travel

A meeting in Monte-Carlo leaves no room for the unexpected. The chauffeur lets you work or make calls during the journey, in a quiet cabin.

Family with children

Pushchair, car seats, several suitcases: a van with chauffeur means you carry nothing between modes of transport.

Late arrival

In the evening, public transport options dwindle. A booked chauffeur waits for you, whatever your landing time.

Our tips for a smooth journey

During the Principality’s major events, such as the Grand Prix, traffic becomes heavy and some streets close. Book early and allow extra time.

Give your flight number and exact destination address when booking. For the return to the airport, allow a comfortable departure time depending on current traffic; your chauffeur will advise you on the ideal time.

The scenic side of the journey

Between Nice and Monaco, there are two main route options: the motorway, more direct in normal conditions, and the corniches overlooking the sea. The Basse Corniche runs through Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer right by the water. The Moyenne Corniche passes near Èze and offers spectacular views of Cap Ferrat. Your chauffeur chooses the route according to current traffic, or to your wishes if you are not in a hurry.

On a first visit, asking for the corniche is a lovely way to discover the coast as soon as you arrive. Simply mention it when booking.

Arriving in the Principality

Monaco is a dense territory, with many one-way streets, tunnels and public lifts. Hotels, residences and offices often have a specific vehicle entrance. An experienced chauffeur knows these access points and drops you in the right place, without unnecessary detours.

Heading back to the airport

For the return, the chauffeur collects you from the address of your choice: hotel, apartment, harbour or meeting place. He loads your luggage and drops you in front of the right terminal. All you have to do is keep to the agreed time.

If you have several meetings in Monaco, hourly hire also lets you keep the same chauffeur all day, before heading to the airport at the end of your schedule.

In summary

The bus and train suit tight budgets and light travellers. To arrive in Monaco rested, on time and without carrying your luggage, a private chauffeur remains the simplest option. Book your transfer online on our booking page or message us on WhatsApp: we confirm promptly.
