Missing a flight by a few minutes remains one of the worst travel memories. In Nice, the airport is close to the centre, but coastal traffic can be unpredictable. The right pick-up time cannot be guessed: it has to be calculated. Here is the method we use with our clients before every departure.

Step 1: start from the airline’s deadline
Everything starts with a single piece of information: the time your airline closes check-in or bag drop. It is shown on your booking or on the airline’s website. This is the time that counts, not the take-off time.
If you are travelling with cabin baggage only and have already checked in online, the constraint is lighter. With hold luggage, children or a non-Schengen flight, keep a wider margin.
Step 2: identify the right terminal
Nice Côte d’Azur airport has two separate terminals. Yours depends on the airline and sometimes the flight. Check it the day before on your boarding pass or on the airport’s official website, then give it to the chauffeur. He will drop you at the right entrance, with no unnecessary detours. To find your way, read our guide Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
Step 3: estimate the driving time
The journey varies with your starting point, the day and the time. From central Nice it is short. From Monaco, Cannes, Antibes or the hinterland it takes longer, and the difference between a winter Sunday morning and a Friday evening in August can be considerable.
We do not give a fixed duration: we estimate the driving time with you at booking, according to your address and the season.
Step 4: add a safety margin
Some periods call for extra caution:
- major Riviera events (Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix, trade shows);
- school holidays and summer weekends;
- roadworks on the motorway or the Promenade des Anglais;
- rainy days, when traffic slows down.
Better to wait calmly in the departure lounge than to watch the clock in a traffic jam.
Step 5: prepare the day before
- Check the terminal and flight time again.
- Gather passports, boarding passes and chargers in a hand bag.
- Count your bags: if there are more than on the way out, let us know.
- Confirm the exact pick-up address, with an access code if needed.
Why book a chauffeur for a departure
A chauffeur booked in advance removes the uncertainty: no last-minute search for a vehicle, no parking to pay, no shuttle to catch. He arrives at the agreed time, loads the luggage and drops you in front of the terminal. For a group departure, the Mercedes V-Class seats up to seven passengers. All our services are presented on the page Nice airport transfer.
And on the way back?
Think about the return journey too. If you are coming back to Nice in a few days, book the return at the same time as the departure. The chauffeur will track your arrival flight and wait for you in the hall, even if it is delayed. You will have nothing to organise when you step off the plane, which is welcome after a long journey or a late flight.
In summary
The airline deadline, the terminal, the driving time and a margin suited to the season: these four elements are enough to set a reliable pick-up time. Give them to us and we will do the calculation with you.
